Judy Henderson - Artist Information
Judy Henderson has been working with clay more than fifteen years. What started as a hobby has become a zeal for creating with her hands. While working with wheel thrown and hand built pieces, she discovered the splendor of Raku fired stoneware.
Laura Adkins Jones - Artist Information
As a child, I was always drawn to art. It was my first choice as an elective from elementary through high school. After graduating with a BA in art from UALR in 2004, I worked as a graphic artist, but found that sitting behind a computer all day didn't suit me well.

I decided to make a career change, began teaching at the Anthony School in 2007, and fell in love with it! It allows me to use my creativity in a whole new way.
Three years ago, while I was pregnant with my daughter Lily, I felt really inspired and creative. I started to paint and found that I had a passion for it. I've been painting ever since. I take pictures of things in nature that are pretty or interesting: colors, juxtapositions of things, shadows, water, sunsets...whatever catches my eye and inspires me. The ideas and colors from these pictures are a jumping off point for my paintings. I enjoy using layers as they give interesting visual texture. Most times I don't have a vision of what a painting will be or what color it will be when I start it. A painting may start out red and end up completely blue. I really love that about the process. I try to have fun with each painting and let the process happen organically.

Raku is a traditional Japanese firing technique that offers endless opportunities for bright color and bold statements.
Judy has recently begun to incorporate hand made paper collage with clay to continue a bold approach.
Over the years, Judy has found that the need for function has often given way to a more basic need for creative form.
Judy spends most of her time enjoying two of her greatest passions- working with clay and working as a professional Massage Therapist.
Judy, a native of Little Rock, Arkansas received her B.S. degree in Psychology and is a National Board Certified Massage Therapist.
